It was a bloody Friday in the island as nine persons were killed in a 24 hour period as marauding gunmen unleashed a wave of violence across the island.
There was a triple murder in Lincoln Crescent, Kingston 5, a double murder in St. James, a murder of a man on Matthews Lane in Central Kingston, a murder on South Camp road, and an elderly man was shot in Allman Town, and later succumbed to his injuries.
A jerk chicken vendor was reportedly killed Friday on the Hellshire Main Road by men who pulled up in a motor car, and shot him. He died on the spot.
The Constabulary Communication Unit confirmed the murders.
Detectives assigned to the Area 1 Major Investigation Division (MID) are probing the circumstances surrounding the shooting death of two men and the injury of a woman by two unknown assailants in Hollywood , Norwood, St. James on Friday, January 15.
Dead are 20-year-old Nicardo Daley and 47-year-old Donovan Reid, both of Norwood, St. James.
Reports are that about 8:00 p.m., Daley, Reid and the woman were patrons at a bar when they were pounced upon by two men who opened gunfire hitting them. The Police were alerted and they were taken to hospital where Daley and Reid were pronounced dead and the woman was admitted for treatment, she is considered stable.
TRIPLE MURDER
Detectives assigned to the Area 4 Major Investigation Division (MID) are probing the circumstances surrounding the shooting deaths of three men on Lincoln Crescent, Kingston 5 on Friday, January 15.
Dead are:
34-year-old Jermaine Lawson of Greenwich Park Road,
20-year-old Mark Nation of Lincoln Crescent, both in Kingston 5 and
29-year-old Anthony Barrett of a Luke Lane, Kingston CSO.
Reports are that about 3:30 p.m., all three men were standing along the roadway when they were pounced upon by armed men travelling in a Honda CRV who opened fire hitting them. The Police were alerted and they were taken to hospital where they were pronounced dead.
There were at least four other murders in the 24 hour span.
Thirty-six-year-old Kevin Brown, handcart operator of Retirement Road, Kingston 5 was shot and killed by an unknown assailant along Matthews Lane, Kingston CSO on Saturday, January 16.
Reports from the Central Police are that about 8:25 a.m., Brown was along the roadway when a lone man on a motorcycle drove up and opened fire at him. He was taken to hospital where he died whilst undergoing treatment.
Fifty-three-year-old Selvin Armstrong of Barry Street, Kingston CSO was shot and killed by unknown assailants along South Camp Road in the parish on Saturday, January 16.
Reports from the Central Police are that about 10:20 p.m., residents heard explosions and summoned the Police. On arrival of the lawmen, Armstrong was seen with multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Detectives assigned to the Central Police Station are investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting death of 80-year-old Ranford Tucker, otherwise called ‘Dapper’, of Robert Street, Kingston who was killed at his home on Friday, January 15.
Reports are that about 8:10 p.m., Tucker was at his shop located in his home when a lone gunman entered and opened fire hitting him. He was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead. The Police were summoned and the scene was processed.
