Malie Donn has a hit on repeat—and now it comes in three parts.
The dancehall artist’s “Van Cleef” series has surpassed 8.7 million Spotify streams, according to figures supplied for this report, with more than 30 million streams reported across digital platforms. And with “Van Cleef Pt 3” joining its predecessors at the top of Apple Music’s Jamaica chart, the trilogy is enjoying a full podium sweep.
The October 31 chart places the newest installment at No. 1, followed by “Vancleef Pt 2” at No. 2 and the original at No. 3.
The Spotify numbers underline the staying power of the first two releases. The original has accumulated 5,441,169 streams, while Part 2 has logged 3,302,430—a combined 8,743,599 before adding the latest chapter’s developing tally.
Both are still drawing substantial daily plays. The supplied snapshot puts the original at 42,158 daily streams and its sequel at 38,559, bringing their combined daily total above 80,000.
Released October 27, “Van Cleef Pt 3” extends the run, with roughly 300,000 YouTube views reported within its first 48 hours. Apple Music lists the release under Attomatic Records, Salkey Recorz, Crook Empire and Dan Sky Records.
The singles’ momentum comes less than two months after Malie Donn released his debut studio album, The Golden Child. The 21-track project arrived September 4 through VP Records, expanding his catalogue beyond the individual records that helped establish his name.
The album has also found an audience across the Caribbean and diaspora. In October, the Jamaica Observer reported that it had reached No. 1 on Apple Music’s Reggae Albums charts in Bermuda, St. Lucia and the Turks and Caicos Islands, alongside peaks of No. 4 in the United Kingdom and Canada and No. 5 in the United States.
Together, the album and the “Van Cleef” releases give Malie Donn two sources of momentum: a full-length introduction to his sound and a series of singles listeners keep returning to.
For now, his toughest competition on Jamaica’s Apple Music chart appears to be himself.
