Nauseous impresses with Guide Over Us

NAUSEOUS

One has to be super confident to adapt a stage name such as Nauseous but talented rhyme-slinger Simon Whyte feels that the name is fitting because of his ‘sick’ rhymes, razor sharp wit and futuristic flow.

“My rhymes are sick,” Nauseous said, laughing.

“I got involved in music because of my friend and mentor Ras Negus I. Because of my wicked rhyming patterns, I took the name ‘Nauseous’ because I realized that my music is sick and different and nauseous means sick, not just nauseated,” he said.

The young singjay has been raising eyebrows in dancehall and reggae circles with songs like the socially conscious Guide Over Us, the hilarious Ms Kitty and the rhyme-happy Special Attention.

He is currently promoting Guide Over Us which was released last month on Nigeri Records.

“The response has been phenomenal so far is the song. The song is being played on IRIE by Talia Powers, Gary G, and DJ Bones while on Hitz FM,Troy and Garfield ah play it. The street mixtapes dem ah give support and Boom boom ah go start mix in the song as well,” he said.

He grew up in August Town where he attended Hope Valley Primary school. He excelled at football while attending John Mills All Age and even got selected to play for the Jamaica under-15 national football side, before migrating to live in Queens, NY in 1999.

The single, “Eyes Can See”, was his first song which was released for Nigeri Records. He has performed at community events at August Town Primary School, and opened for artistes such as Spragga Benz, Vybz Kartel and Agent Sasco aka Assassin at shows in Brooklyn, New York, and at dancehall events held at the Wild Ohare club in Chicago Illinois. He has also opened for Sean Paul in a club show in Poughkeepsie, NY.

Nauseous will be releasing a single called Great Man for Healing Stream Entertainment Records in July 2021.
