Dancehall starlet Keshan had a growing fan base of a budding career following the release of singles Nirvana, Walk Out and Bubble Up Yuh Body, the latter being a collaboration done in 2015 featuring dancehall heavyweight Vybz Kartel, which racked up over 2.5 million views on YouTube at the time.
Then her life was tragically cut short at the hands of her lover, a licensed firearm holder, who shot and killed her July 20, 2019. The murder accused is Toni Martin, a 34-year-old businessman and resident of Old Harbour Villa in Old Harbour, St Catherine.
The Brown family, who are also from Old Harbour, have a lot of questions about the nature of the love triangle between Keshan, whose real name is Keneisha Brown, her lover Toni Martin, and another woman.
“Keshan is a humble soul, she doesn’t talk much. She’s been with this guy for some time now. He had a baby mother with 2 kids. He told my her he’s no longer with the baby mother which she believed because he stays by her house sometimes or she stays by his house. My understanding is that he has been living a double life…denying both women to each other,” the sister told one876entertainment.com

“Keshan found out what he has been doing and she went to see him, he wasn’t at home and she went to see if he was by the woman house, he was there. They got into a fight and she smashed the car glass they continued to fight and then she got shot.”
The sister is upset that the licensed firearm holder may have acted improperly. Was he in clear and present danger where he had to discharge his firearm with extreme prejudice? And how seriously injured had the man been during the altercation to have been able to drive her to the Spanish Town hospital afterwards?
” My understanding is that he took her to the hospital after all this. What I can’t understand is it’s being said she stabbed him 3 times however he managed to drive to the hospital. How? I can’t wrap my head around it,” she said.
Three years ago, the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution ruled that Martin be charged with murder after years of meticulous work by detectives at the St Catherine South Police Division.
MARTIN CHARGED
Years ago, Martin, otherwise ‘Tonni’ was taken into custody at the Hundred Man Police Station, Portmore following a question and answer session with detectives in the presence of his attorney.
Martin, who is now out on bail, has claimed self-defense in his alibi to the police.
The tragic incident, which occurred in Sharper Lane, Church Pen, sent shockwaves throughout Old Harbour and entertainment circles, as the then 26-year-old was tipped as a very special talent with a very bright future ahead in the business.
Police reports are that Brown and Martin were at home in Old Harbour when an argument developed between them.
During the dispute, Brown allegedly used stones to damage Martin’s motor car, which resulted in a fight.
Martin then allegedly pulled his licensed firearm and fired a single shot hitting Brown in her forehead.
She was taken to hospital where she was pronounced dead.
