Junelle Bromfield, who has had a strained relationship with the Jamaican public, has gone viral again after a sharp, witty riposte to a taunt from a Jamaican fan.
Bromfield did not compete at the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, but planted a congratulatory kiss on her fiancé Noah Lyles after he secured bronze in the men’s 100m final. Notoriously contentious, Jamaican track and field fans spat nasty comments at Bromfield, with one commenter pointedly asking : “So u stop run fi man?”
The 400m runner’s response was flippant and immediate and went viral.
“Yup did a run fi buy a house but he bought us one. Wanted to travel the world and the flights are paid. Wanted to start a business and he is investing. You wa run for me?” she fired back.
Junelle and Lyles, who became engaged in October 2024, later announced in November that they had purchased a home together. However, the athlete’s relationship with parts of the Jamaican public has remained strained since the Paris 2024 Olympics.
