Dancehall artistes Vybz Kartel and Mavado will renew their legendary rivalry when share the Reggae Sumfest stage on July 18, 2026, at Plantation Cove in St Ann.
The former dancehall rivals who led a pivotal period in Jamaica’s dancehall history, will invoke the nostalgia of the Gully-Gaza era and a much-talked about clash at Sting this Summer in Jamaica.
Vybz Kartel and Mavado have recently reconciled, with new photos in 2025 and 2026 showing them together following their historic “Gaza vs Gully” feud. Recent images, including collaborations with DJ Khaled, highlight their reunion and upcoming performances.
A “Gully vs. Gaza” showdown featuring both artists was announced for Malta in September 2026.
“A decade of rivalry… a lifetime of hits… and now the energy of two legends meeting on one stage in a moment set to shake dancehall history. Eighteen years in the making…this is a taste of Reggae Sumfest, where the culture, the music, and the legacy come alive,” Reggae Sumfest said in a captioned post.
In the meantime, Vybz Kartel has officially denied rumors of a May 2026 East African tour, calling claims of performances in Kenya, Uganda, and Rwanda false. He warned fans and promoters against potential scams, stating neither he nor his management are involved.
Reports and social media posts suggesting “Talanta East Afrika” festival tour in May 2026 are unauthorized.
Kartel clarified that no shows have been confirmed and advised against sending money to anyone claiming to book him for these dates.
