Malie Donn’s ‘Golden Child’ makes international chart strides

Malie Donn’s Golden Child is travelling well beyond home, with his debut studio album recording No. 1 positions on Apple Music’s Reggae Albums charts in three territories, according to a new Jamaica Observer report.

The newspaper’s October 11 account places the project at the top of the genre rankings in Bermuda, St Lucia and the Turks and Caicos Islands. It also reports No. 2 positions in Jamaica, Antigua and Barbuda, the Bahamas, Grenada, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Guyana and Anguilla.

Beyond the Caribbean, the reported run includes No. 4 on the reggae listings in Britain and Canada and No. 5 in the United States. These are reported chart positions across the album’s run, rather than an independently verified snapshot of today’s rankings.

Released on September 4, 2026, The Golden Child contains 21 tracks. Apple Music’s official album page confirms the release date and credits VP Records, a division of VP Music Group, Inc.

The platform classifies the set as Modern Dancehall and lists a running time of one hour and one minute. Its video section includes the Squash collaboration Golden Child and the single Holiday, giving listeners further routes into the project.

Behind the international figures is an artiste whose musical foundations were laid in St Catherine.

Born Kimalie Hylton, Malie Donn is originally from Jones Avenue in Spanish Town and grew up in Waterford, Portmore. The Observer’s September 4 release report traces his interest in music to Waterford Primary School, with further development during his years at Bridgeport High.

That report also places the album after The Grand Rising EP in 2024 and Leak the Hard Drive in 2025, both released through VP Records.

Songs including V6, Body Tea and Van Cleef helped establish his name before the full-length project arrived. The latest chart report adds another measure of reach to that earlier groundwork.

For Malie Donn, The Golden Child now offers a broader introduction: a full album carrying his music into several markets at once.
