Popular New York-based disc jock Dexter ‘DJ Linkage’ Blake is mourning the death of his mother, Mary Hinds, who passed away at the age of 87 after battling dementia. She died on November 29th.

“My mother was everything to me. She had the ability to make anyone laugh with her jokes and her personality. Her joy for life was contagious. She is such a beautiful woman. Before she died, she went to God and said that she was ready to leave this world so I know she is in heaven now,” DJ Linkage said.

She is survived by seven children , six boys and one girl. She is a cancer-survivor as well.

“One of my best memories of my mother is when she joined me for a Mother’s Day broadcast on Linkage Radio and she cracked a lot of jokes that day. The whole switchboard lit up,” he said.

DJ Linkage said that a “great light has been dimmed”.

“Mama , when you left the light in the city dim just to see how bright a star you are….we will miss you,” DJ Linkage said.
