Reggae singer Kenne Blessin is breathing new life into a beloved reggae classic — and fans are embracing the nostalgic vibe with open arms.
The Atlanta-based artist is earning buzz for his fresh take on Barrington Levy’s timeless hit “Vice Versa Love,” the smooth 1990s reggae anthem known for its laid-back groove and message of mutual love and understanding.
But for Kenne Blessin, the remake isn’t just about revisiting the past — it’s about introducing a legendary song to a new generation while keeping its emotional core intact.
“The response has been pleasantly surprising,” the singer said. “People really appreciate the fact that I chose that song, and they keep telling me it is time for this living, legendary song right now because of the turmoil in the world today.”
The updated version appears on his latest album, Caught My Attention, a 14-track project centered around love, unity, spirituality and self-awareness. Across the album, Kenne Blessin blends polished contemporary production with the soulful warmth of classic roots reggae.
Tracks like “Wanna Be With You” lean into romance, while “Spread the Love” explores themes of nature and universal connection — creating what the artist describes as a naturally flowing creative process.
“The inspiration came naturally one day while I was playing a riddim,” he explained. “It just kept coming at me, and I love a natural feeling. That made it magical.”
Born in Kingston and raised in St. Thomas, Jamaica, Kenne Blessin grew up immersed in music. His influences range from reggae legends like Bob Marley, Toots and the Maytals, Sizzla and Beenie Man to hip-hop stars like Snoop Dogg.
Later, while living and performing in Antigua, he expanded his musical palette even further, embracing soca and rock influences that would eventually shape both his recordings and live performances.
His career took a major step forward after winning the Caribbean Star Search competition on Gem FM in Antigua — a victory that helped launch his breakout soca single, “My Love Will Never Die,” which gained traction in Trinidad before spreading throughout the Caribbean.
Over the years, Kenne Blessin has built a reputation for his smooth vocal delivery and genre-blending versatility, sharing stages with artists including Sean Paul and Freddie McGregor.
