A licensed firearm holder opened fire at a 'Gully Queen', one of the homeless homosexual men known for their penchant for committing robberies, foiling an attempted robbery attempt of a woman who was walking along the road in the vicinity of Tropical Battery and the Northern Caribbean University along Half Way Tree Road this afternoon.

The man, one of the so-called 'Gully Queens' who prowl the area, reportedly emerged from the drain and attempted to rob her of her cellular phone, it was at this point a licensed firearm holder purportedly witnessed the fracas and intervened, shooting the man.

The injured man fled into the gully, at which time police was summoned and firefighters attempted to retrieve the man from the drain.

The Corporate Communication Unit (CCU) confirmed the incident, but was unable to provide further details as police officers and the fire department are still on the scene. The firemen reportedly gained access to the drain but the man had already escaped.

The drama has resulted in major traffic snarls along Half Way Tree Road, for motorists heading northwest going as far back as Cross Roads. The so-called ‘gully queens’ have gained notoriety within Kingston as dangerous thugs as they were previously ousted from New Kingston and the old Cholera cemetery along Waterloo Road.
