Reggae artiste I Atom is not perturbed about the brouhaha surrounding Capleton's recent rape charges. She believes that King Shango is a man of integrity and a mentor to younger artistes.

"The Capleton that I know would never do something like that, I am just wishing him prayers and blessings so that he can maintain the strength to overcome these allegations and clear his name," I Atom said.

The singer recently did a collaboration with the dancehall star called 'Ganja Call' which has been

generating a huge buzz in the streets. The controversy surrounding the star in recent weeks has also pushed the single's spins on digital and online platforms.

The song was released on the Virtuous Voice Production label, on January 7th this year. Two months ago, a video for the project was released, and has generated over 128,000 views.

"I am just giving Jah the glory because over the past two weeks, the views of the video has gone through the roof, and almost daily, people have been calling me and asking me my opinion about Capleton and the allegations. but I always feel comfortable around him. In fact, I feel like a daughter around him, he is always giving me advice, he is like a father figure to me," she said.

The video is in rotation on local cable channels.

"I am looking forward to performing the song with him onstage one day," the artiste whose real name is Careen Hanchard, said.

Two years ago, she walked away from her job as an agricultural extension officer in the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries and entered the music industry as a neophyte. It was a leap of faith for her because she had initially resigned her job with the intention to migrate to the USA where she planned to read for a master's degree in agriculture, and then to pursue a job as an agricultural engineer.

But the music bug bit her and the rest, as they say, is history.

"I am fine-tuning my live onstage set because a few promoters in the Caribbean have approached me about shows," she said.
