Reggae star Etana will be taking a sabbatical from her opening slot on fellow reggae Hawaiian artiste J Boog's "L.O.E" (Love Over Everything) 2018 tour, in order to release her much-anticipated "Reggae Forever" album today, International Woman's Day.
As a treat to her eager fans and to give a personal insight into her latest musical offering, the Strong One will give a free intimate acoustic performance paired with Q&A at the Apple Music Store in Williamsburg, Brooklyn on March 7th, the eve of Reggae Forever's release.
"It will be a personal, intimate setting and an acoustic performance. I  am excited that people at the Apple stores will be able to view the performance and participate as well," Etana said.
She will also be doing a Google Talk Live on March 8th at Google headquarters in Manhattan, NY on March 8th. Etana previous album, 'I Rise', topped the Billboard Reggae chart in 2014 with first-week sales of 547 copies. This album will her first album where she is the executive producer, and her first independent album. Reggae Forever will be distributed by Tad's Records.
Etana said that the tour has been very successful so far, giving her a chance to win over new fans, and appease older ones who love her brand of spiritually uplifting reggae music.
"I am grateful for the many new fans I met, seen some faces that never missed a show. Some are used to two hour long set and not happy about seeing me for a short time but overall, the experience touring with Jboog is really great. Most shows are sold out shows are sold out. People come out in the snow, in the cold, in the weekday for reggae music. It’s just amazing. The road isn’t necessarily easy but what makes it worth it all is to see the happy faces of people vining and singing along," Etana said.
She revealed that tour life, although challenging, was a great experience for the Jamaicans and other nationalities who were working together to promote reggae music.
"Jboog's whole crew is awesome. I have 8 Jamaicans on the road and Jboog has two: one horn player and his engineer Rollie who we all know very well. My engineer is Rollie’s little brother. I think it’s cool to see Rollie helping his brother along as well. One and a half months on the road performing almost every night, one show behind the other!! It’s exciting, it’s hard, it’s sweet, it’s vibes, it’s reggae! It’s tour life," she said.
She will be resuming the L.O.E tour by performing on March 9th, at the venue called Toad's Place in New Haven, Connecticut.
