Hierarchy Records Bragga Dat is making a powerful comeback with a new single called ‘Qweng Dem Fast’, a song where he boasts about his ability to score sexy honeys with great ease. “Mi ah the ‘qwenger’, dem a spender, that means me ah qweng the girls, ah me the girls dem want, but ah dem a spend the money. Is just another term fi girls man,” Bragga Dat said, laughing.
The ultra-talented Bragga Dat first shot to prominence a few years ago with the smash number one hit, ‘Dagga Dat’ that spawned a ‘dagger craze’ and prompted the Broadcasting Commission to ban the word ‘dagger’ from the airwaves. Now, Bragga Dat has a new naughty word. Enter the ‘qweng’. The slang has already gained popularity in the ghettoes of the Kingston Metropolitan area and spawned numerous catch-phrases but Bragga Dat is not amused that fellow deejays are already jumping on his slang. “Mi hear Elephant Man wid a song but mi no too get fi pree fi him song yet but Demarco a misuse it inna fi him song, and ah terms like it is a gangster phrase and that is not what it means. Right now, mi no inna that with no artiste, anno de so my ting de. Memba say ah mi come out with the hit song with the word ‘dagger’ and a lot of artiste were using it and sang numerous songs until the word got banned. But this time, mi mek sure brand my ting, dem can endorse it but dem caan tek over my ting,” he said. Bragga Dat recently returned to Jamaica after a successful extended promotional run in the United States where he performed at a number of nightclubs and dances all over the country. “I also was on a six month USA tour recently from September 2012 to March 2013 this year. I performed at a number of shows in New York, Maryland, California, Miami, Washington DC, Virginia, Florida and other states,” he said. He recently shot the video for 'Qweng Dem Fast' produced by Hierarchy Records. The video was directed by Unplugged Media. “The Qweng Dem Fast video includes scenes in Maryland, Washington DC and Howard University. We had a couple of dancers, the Tropical Dancers from Howard University, and they did some high energy moves, the video is mad and it will be released this July,” he said. He recently inked a management and recording deal with the US-based Hierarchy Records. “I am comfortable with them as my management and my career really looks good with the direction they taking me now,” he said.
