A galaxy of gospel stars will shine brightly at the All Island Gospel Concert, scheduled for August 10 and 11 at the Police Officers Club in Kingston and the Mandeville Primary and Junior High School in Manchester.
Presented by Island Gospel Promotions, this inspiring two-day feast of music offers wholesome family entertainment and a delightful opportunity for fun and fellowship. Among the artistes who will be singing praises at this mega concert are Jabez, Robert and Jenieve, Carlene Davis, the Grace Thrillers, Lubert Levy, Levy’s Heritage, Joan Flemmings, Brother West, Unique and Breezy McKenley. Patrons will therefore enjoy a balanced mix of dancehall-infused gospel, which has found especial favour with the young, along with the traditional gospel melodies which have been embraced by all. “We can definitely say that a concert of this nature is something that is needed right now. We have started off with two parishes, but our intent is to take this event right across Jamaica,” declared Jenieve Bailey, a member of the organizing committee. “Our decision to stage it in August stemmed from the fact that this is the time of celebration of our independence and as a God-fearing nation, with all that is happening around us, we need to get back to basics.” She further noted, “The line-up is amazing and we are happy that we have been able to secure all these accomplished gospel acts to perform on the same stage.” And, the artistes too, are equally pleased to be part of this solid gospel showcase which avails them the opportunity to minister through song. Full-time music ministers and multiple award winners, Robert and Jenieve, affectionately called the ‘Sweethearts of Jamaican Gospel Music’, are eagerly anticipating this concert, and so too are internationally acclaimed solo artistes, Minister Carlene Davis and Joan Flemmings. Three-time JCDC finalist and two-time Youth For Christ National Champion, Jabez, is one of Jamaica’s top gospel singers, whose popularity increases with each new single. The name Grace Thrillers is synonymous with gospel music, and, with the second generation at the helm, the group has captured a new group of fans to add to their already burgeoning fan base. All Island Gospel Concert is scheduled to get underway at 7:00 pm each evening. Emcees will be Markland Edwards, Nadine Blair and Arnold Kelly. Tickets are available at Mall, Portmore Mall, Haughtons and Genius Pharmacies, Source of Light, Sam Wisdom and Heaven’s Texaco. Air transportation will be provided by Fly Jamaica.
