Reggae superstar Buju Banton, one of Jamaica's most favoured sons, will return home within a few weeks. There will be fanfare. There will be music. There will be dancing. There will be much merriment. However, the government of Jamaica will not facilitate or partake in such matters. To paraphrase the famous idiom, when it comes to such occasions, "it is not the done thing".

An arrest has been made in the bizarre case involving the murder of a female who allegedly fell asleep in her lover's house. Last week, the St Ann police have charged a 41-year-old woman with the murder of another female, whose nude body was found with multiple stab wounds along a roadway in a Runaway Bay, St Ann housing complex on Wednesday, November 14. 

Jamaican singer Dalton Harris responded via video to the ugly wave of homophobia that swept the island  and the internet over the last 24 hours when a photo of him and his fellow contestants ermerged on the Internet. In the photo, Harris appeared to be sitting in the lap of a fellow male contestant, Brendan Murray, of the UK X Factor.  

Another artiste in the reggae industry is dead. Trevor McNaughton, founder of The Melodians, died Tuesday at the Kendrick Rehabilitation Hospital in Hollywood, Florida. His wife, Irene, gave the cause of death as respiratory failure.

    Television and dancehall star Benzly Hype got a major scare last week when a man pulled a gun on him while he was chilling with friends on a beach in Portland. Reports are that the man made a few derogatory and racist comments directed at Benzly Hype after he had seen the dancehall artiste exchanging pleasantries with the man's girlfriend.   

Another parent, 46-year-old Nadine Brown, was executed at her home in Retreat District, St Thomas, yesterday morning.

Personal information about people from North America was at the centre of testimony given during the Tommy Lee lottery scam trial yesterday.  

  Dancehall artiste Gage has now turned his attention towards doing 'girl songs'  exclusively over the next couple of months. He has recorded a slew of new songs including the hardcore 'Good P--- Gal Fi Get Things' featuring Jugglerz, which was released last week.   

  Two members of the local entertainment industry remain in custody in the United States following their arrest last week for alleged drug trafficking.

Dancehall singjay Kaream Kharizma is generating lots of street buzz with his latest release,'Pretty Little Indian', which has found an audience among young female fans.
