Jamaican singer Dalton Harris bested his fellow contestants  Anthony Russell and Scarlett Lee to be crowned the winner of this year's X Factor this evening.

Dancehall singjay Unknown Gringo is the next rising star from the second city of Montego Bay. He demonstrated that in no uncertain fashion with a mature and energetic performance during the 'JB Outa West' show at the Dump Up beach in Montego Bay over the weekend. 

Rowena Lewinson, a resident of Grantham, a small village in North West Clarendon, believes that Dalton's mother should not be so harsh on her famous son. She is Dalton's 'life mother', not his biological one, because it was her tender care and attention that set him on the path to his present success; Dalton calls her 'Aunty Mitsy'.  

Fifty-two year old Sylvia Campbell is upset that her son, X Factor finalist Dalton Harris, has failed to acknowledge her role as a mother.   

Reggae superstar Buju Banton, one of Jamaica's most favoured sons, will return home within a few weeks. There will be fanfare. There will be music. There will be dancing. There will be much merriment. However, the government of Jamaica will not facilitate or partake in such matters. To paraphrase the famous idiom, when it comes to such occasions, "it is not the done thing".

Jamaican singer Dalton Harris responded via video to the ugly wave of homophobia that swept the island  and the internet over the last 24 hours when a photo of him and his fellow contestants ermerged on the Internet. In the photo, Harris appeared to be sitting in the lap of a fellow male contestant, Brendan Murray, of the UK X Factor.

Another artiste in the reggae industry is dead. Trevor McNaughton, founder of The Melodians, died Tuesday at the Kendrick Rehabilitation Hospital in Hollywood, Florida. His wife, Irene, gave the cause of death as respiratory failure.
