Jamaica’s veteran reggae songstress, Nadine Sutherland, has been pulling in good crowds during her US Spring Tour which started on May 7th and will go through several US states before ending on May 29th.

The US Spring Tour kicked off in Miami on May 7th with a sold-out performance which attracted a large crowd including Nadine’s superstar friend, Billboard-charter Diana King.

“The schedule covers over 10 selected US cities and it is Nadine’s first ever North American tour. It has been going great so far, she has played to several sold-out dates in a number of major US cities, it has been very exciting with great performances by Nadine, and I have been quietly surprised by how well Denyque has been doing as the opening act,” Jade Lee, who manages Nadine Sutherland and Denyque said.

“This is a great opportunity for the long time fans of the reggae diva to see her in action and they have turned out in droves. All the promoters are enthused about what is going on and they are already booking her for additional dates overseas.”

The tour is organized by Jamstar Productions.

Nadine made her stage debut at the age of nine as a winner of Jamaica’s popular Tastees Talent Contest. International reggae superstar Bob Marley, signed her to his Tuff Gong label while she was still an adolescent. Nadine went from being known as reggae’s “Teen Queen” with hits like “Starvation” and “Until” to garnering international acclaim as the co-lead on dancehall anthems “Action” and “Anything For You”. She has done collaborations with top deejays including Buju Banton, Mad Cobra, Spragga Benz, and, of course Terror Fabulous and Canadian artist, Snow.

“Nadine is considered as the premiere female reggae vocalist of her time, she is a tremendous star, and she continues to shine because of the response to her latest single, Cougar, which shows she is still relevant today,” Ms. Lee said.

Nadine Sutherland recently shot the video for her Cougar single which is scheduled to be released this Summer. The single has generated a lot of controversy especially in New York where there is a talk of dance remix. Cougar has also been a hot topic on Ragashanti’s Mix Up and Blender programme because of the provocative issue of an older woman dating a younger man.

The tour is now on a week-long hiatus and resumes on May 22nd with a show in Oakland, California.

Here are the rest of the dates:

May 22 OAKLAND, CA KARIBBEAN CITY

May 25 – EUREKA, CA RED FOX TAVERN

May 26 – PORTLAND, OR MT TABOR THEATRE

May 27 – LOS ANGELES, CA SAINT ROCKE

May 28 – PHOENIX, AZ CLUB RED
