With his current hit song Delilah blazing ethnic and urban radio stations in the tri-state area, David Constantine Brooks aka Mavado is poised to finally garner the type of international attention he has craved since he busted on the scene six years ago with his debut album on VP Records.

“Delilah has been doing very well at crossing over so far” the singjay said in a recent interview.

“It was added to HOT 97 about 10 days ago and has already got over 40 spins. It’s been added to WZMX in Hartford and other stations are also playing it across the country. It’s looking very positive…its reacting very well. It’s the kind of record that fits many formats so we expect it to go very far. We have many directors coming at us to do the video so we will soon decide who we are going with and shoot that” he said

Aside from the success of Delilah, Mavado has endorsement deals that his management team is currently investigating.

“We have a lot of deals and endorsements in the pipeline and I'm confident of a big announcement very soon. I’m mostly in the US now recording in studios, getting a lot of offers for features and lining up for the show I have coming up. I'm just going to be making great music and push it to where I want to be” he said.

It was just about a year ago that the dancehall Gully Gaad had his US visa revoked and was unable to perform for his fans stateside. With hot singles like Peppa and One by One with Laza Morgan on the reggae charts and his US visa in hand, Mavado is happy to be back on US soil once again.

“The NY market is important to any act. NY accepted me as an artiste since 2005 when I bussed with Real McCoy and they have stayed loyal to me since then. It has such a large Caribbean population also so I have a huge fan base here, as well as a massive crossover audience. As the saying goes - If you can make it NY you can make it anywhere!” he said.

For the past six years, he has a special love affair with fans in the Big Apple. His most celebrated performance in the city was his 2008 performance at Irie Jamboree at Roy Wilkins Park in Queens. Ironically his very first performance this year will happen again at Roy Wilkins Park on Labor Day Sunday, September 4, 2011. He will grace the stage with international star Kenny “Babyface” Edmonds, R&B singer Monica, Tarrus Riley and Machel Montano HD. For this performance, Mavado is assuring fans that it will be a special occasion and a show to remember.

“There have been so many hits and anthems since I last performed in the US, I know my fans are longing to see and hear me live and they won’t be disappointed. It’s something you are going to want to witness, not just hear about” he said.
