The political drama continues to unfold with news that Mike Henry, chairman of the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP), issuing a statement this afternoon that the Central Executive of the JLP has unanimously voted to reject Bruce Golding's decision to resign.

The JLP chairman made the disclosure in a statement issued to the media today.

Maybe Golding's decision to resign is a ploy to galvanize his grassroots supporters. Edward Seaga, his predecessor as leader of the JLP, resigned at least three times during his time at the help. He had resigned for three months in September 1998 to protest his party's decision to contest the local government elections in which the PNP gained control of all 13 councils, and he had offered to resign on July 29, 1986 after his party's poor showing in the local government elections that year, but then had been persuaded to stay.
