The US-based Linkage Productions captivated the city of Mount Vernon in Westchester County on Sunday, May 10th with the Mother’s Day Awards and Ball in  ‘The Mansion’. The event was well attended by residents of the five boroughs who were delighted by this year's classy upgrade of an event normally known for hosting an annual awards show for disc jockeys and recording artists.

"This year's ‘spin off’ was the epitome of class," an elated  Dexter ‘DJ Linkage’ Blake, organiser of the event, said.

Popular band Fab Five headlined the event and thoroughly entertained the audience - the young, old and young-at-heart - who danced to a  medley of popular reggae and soca hits such as ‘Shaving Cream', 'Jamaican Woman', 'Good Buddy'  and 'Ring Road’.

The evening’s awards and performances showcased a myriad of artistes such as Kinky Boots’ child prodigy eleven year Douglas Baldio, dancer, singer and actor saw him paying tribute to his idol Ben Vereen, and his amazing stage presence and sparking vocals wowed the audience.  Pablo Bentley with his selection ‘Jah Jah’ spurred the patrons into an ‘irie vibe’ while artistes sch as Press Fyah warmed the hearts of mothers as he handed a rose to all mothers in attendance, a beautiful gesture that won over the patrons. He ended his set with a powerful rendition of ‘Unfaithful’ and exited to animated applause.

Bronx’s vintage crooner Derrick Auto had the audience in the palm of his hands. Sophia Brown, the Excellence in Music & Entertainment (EME) Awards nominee also did well with ‘Give Me That Good Love.’

DJ Linkage served as the host of the event. Awards were presented to: Sophia Brown for Outstanding Achievement in Music; Sybil Nevers-Gordon for Mother of the Year Award; Brother Gary for Outstanding Achievement in Radio Broadcasting; Press Fyah for Break Through Artist of the Year; Flourgon was given a Lifetime Achievement Award; and Fabulous Five received the Lifetime Achievement Award and Outstanding Contribution in Music.
