No one has ever accused Deva Bratt of being politically correct, but the deejay appears to be quietly rejoicing in the predicament of Vybz Kartel who has been jailed for the past two weeks on a whole raft of charges including murder and ganja possession. Other deejays have been playing the hypocrite and being non-committal in their assessments of Kartel's downfall but not Deva Bratt, he has come out blazing.

"Karma is a bitch, him fuck karma, the karma weh bring drama, and look wah a reach him (alughing)...the same thing you wish for people, it will happen to you, I wish no bad on him, but ah him first did duh song a style mi when I was in trouble with the law," he said.

"I am not surprised that he is in jail because what is due to Caesar will always be given to Caesar if yu a de World Boss, yu haffi pay the cost to be the boss, is a must that the boss have to do wah the boss have to do. It is not good for dancehall, it is just unnecessary, collaborations with foreign artistes, setting
up humanitarian foundations and charities, good record sales and albums, those things are good and necessary for dancehall. Dancehall can make money to uplift the people and not just to show off on people who are not as fortunate, we have to bring in a new era, this is an opportunity to rebuild dancehall and set it how it should always have been...we need a real industry," Deva Bratt said.

Deva Bratt has suffered at the hands of Vybz Kartel during his troubles as well. In 2009, when Deva was incarcerated for having sex with a minor, Kartel penned and performed a single "I Could Never Be a Raper' which appeared to sully the reputation of Deva Bratt. He also took a potshot at Empire deejay Popcaan.

"Mi waah si a who ago whol up dancehall now like how Kartel outa di picture, mi waah si wah 'Foot Corn' ago duh," he said
