Alleged killer Barrington Whyte surrenders to the cops
A news release from the Jamaica Constabulary Force's Corporate Communication Unit yesterday said that the suspect, 53-year-old Barrington Whyte, turned himself in to the police early yesterday morning with his attorney.
The district constable was reportedly chopped to death during a domestic dispute with Whyte at their Farmbrook Avenue home in Patrick City on Saturday. He reportedly fled the scene after. Family members who gathered at the scene said they were not aware that she was having marital troubles.
The two were married for four years.
Edwards-Whyte, who was assigned to Crime Stop, did not respond when brother Prince Cooper visited shortly after 8:00 pm, but he knew she was home. Minutes later, he forced open the grille to discover that his sister was in pieces and lying in a pool of blood.
Minister of National Security Dr Horace Chang and Commissioner of Police Major General Antony Anderson have both condemned the murder of the constable in news releases.
