Denham Town police officers are now scouring security footage at the Kingston Public Hospital in an attempt to quickly rescue a newborn who was stolen from the Victoria Jubilee Hospital in Kingston this morning.

ONE876ENTERTAINMENT understands that at about 4:30 a.m, the child's mother went to the bathroom to freshen up leaving the baby on the bed, but on her return, her newborn baby was missing. An alarm was immediately raised.

"Personnel from the hospital and Denham Town Police are meeting to deal with the abduction. We will have an update as soon as possible for the media," a representative of the Corporate Communications Unit said.

This is the second such abduction in less than a week. In early January, Walton Evans, 41, and Latoya White 34, the parents of three-week-old, Vernesha Evans, were distraught when their child was snatched from them.

In November 2014, seven weeks after his birth, baby Akeem was snatched from his home in Content/Retreat, St Mary, by two women in the neighbouring parish of St Ann. In December 2016, police were able to recover a baby that was stolen from the University Hospital of the West Indies.
