Exciting roots rock firebrand Ras Bogle is making great strides with his latest single, Crying For Justice. Since the video was released last week, it has popped up on the playlists of CVM Plus, RE TV, HYPE TV and N TV.
“People are really responding to the video, they love the concept, especially at this time, with the State of Emergency, the controversial police killings, and the abuse of power by cops and
soldiers, it connect with the people,” Rasta Bogle said.
So what you ask? Reggae singers, and indeed, most Jamaicans, cry out
for justice every day. Well, music insiders are excited about his new
sound, especially his vocal inflections which bring back memories of
an Ini Kamoze.
“A lot of people, especially people in the US tell me that I sound
like the great Ini Kamoze and I take it as a compliment because he was
one of the first reggae singers to cross over and make it big
internationally,” Rasta Bogle said.
Another one of the firebrand’s single, Live Clean, is reportedly
doing well in Europe, especially in England on the raglan.
“A week ago, I did an interview on a radio station in England and the
presenter said the song is doing well over there because it has a good
hook, and the phrasing, the use of the word ‘harlot’ sell off over
there,” he said.
Ras Bogle did some excellent work recording the aforementioned "Cry
for Justice" on the Autumn riddim and "Stay Far" on the G-Life’s
Unleashed riddim alongside heavyweight acts such as Anthony B. He
began to land gigs on the vibrant reggae scene on the east coast of
the USA.
He has worked on stage shows alongside Jamaican stars such as Serani,
Tanto Metro, Terry Linen, and I Wayne on shows across the Tri-State
area. Ras Bogle appeared on the second annual Thanksgiving Giveaway
show in November in Philadelphia performing alongside Pinchers,
Flourgon, Lady G, Macka Diamond and Flippa Maffia.
Since his return to Jamaica, he has shot a critically acclaimed video,
Cry for Justice which is now in rotation locally. He recently recorded
a single called ‘We Don't Know" on the new Kirkle Dove production,
another well received single called She a Bawl for Sounie Productions
and just last week, De Ya Same Way for Sixth Sense Records.
“I am coming to take my place in the music business with a brand new
sound and flow,” Ras Bogle said.
