A conductor was shot dead and a female injured by gunmen who staged a robbery on a bus along Mandela Highway heading out of Kingston on Tuesday.

The deceased has been identified as Donovan Miller, 42, who was the conductor on the bus.

Reports are that about 10: 30 a.m., the bus was heading along Mandela Highway towards Spanish Town, when on reaching close to the White Marl community, two men who were on board requested a stop.

As the men were about to disembark the bus, they approached the conductor and requested that he hand over the money that he had.

The conductor refused and one of the men pulled a firearm and shot Miller several times.

A female passenger was also shot and injured during the incident.
