Constable Jerome Graham was yesterday (January 3) fined $600,000.00 at his sentencing hearing, having been convicted for the offence of inflicting grievous bodily harm on September 11, 2017.

He was sentenced by His Hon. Mr. Dale Staple, Parish Judge for Manchester. Constable Graham was bound over with a surety in the amount of one million dollars ($1,000,000.00) and given one month (on or before 2nd February, 2018 by 3 p.m.) to pay the fine. If he fails to pay this sum, he will serve four months in custody at hard labour.

Constable Graham was arrested by the Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) on April 29, 2015. The allegation was that on the 3rd April 2014 Mr. Chester Daley, a taxi driver, was struck by Constable Graham whilst being taken to the Mandeville Police Station following his arrest. The blow rendered Daley unconscious and he was taken to the hospital. As a result of the injury suffered, Mr. Daley has lost significant brain function.
