Will Popcaan be able to obtain a US visa now that the law has been changed with regards to possession of small amounts of gangja? Previously, the deejay had found it challenging to get a visa given that he could not get an expungement of his criminal record years ago on a minor weed charge.

Individuals who previously incurred a criminal record for smoking or possessing small quantities of ganja will have it wiped off their record.

This comes as Justice Minister Senator Mark Golding signed an amended version of the Criminal Records (Rehabilitation of Offenders) Act on Wednedsay.

Previously, expungement of minor ganja-related offences from one's criminal record would be left up to the discretion of the Criminal Records Board. However, with the enactment of this new order, all criminal records related to minor ganja offences will be erased once individuals apply for their police record.

Speaking at a Town Hall meeting earlier this year, the justice minister advised the public that automatic expungement is a right.

" the case of the small quantity of ganja or smoking, you do not have to wait for any rehabilitation period. You can immediately apply for expungement and you're immediately entitled to it; there is no discretion, it's a right that you have," Golding said.
